Evening turns gold over the cornfields behind the patio, string lights flicker on above the long table, and wood smoke from the fire pit drifts up toward a sky crowded with stars. Wildflowers edge the yard. Now and then a wild turkey wanders past.

Inside, the modern Cape Cod-style house feels bigger than it looks from the road, light and airy, with antiques mixed among clean modern pieces in a soft neutral palette. The kitchen opens into a sun-filled living room and is stocked for a real feast, with a gas stove, Le Creuset tableware, a Nespresso machine, and an old shelf of unusual dinnerware.

Three bedrooms and three baths sleep six, with two bedrooms and two baths on the first floor. The whole upstairs belongs to the primary suite, with a walk-in closet and a glass and granite shower, and Brooklinen sheets dress every bed.

Mornings begin with coffee on the front porch and a walk along quiet country roads, or a stretch of the nearby Empire Trail. The restaurants and shops of Warren Street in Hudson are about fifteen minutes away, and Art Omi's sculpture park is just down the road. On the drive back, farm stands are piled high with whatever ends up on the grill tonight.
