Cozy Cottage

About this property

Night falls over the High Point range outside Kerhonkson, and from the king bed in the loft you watch the stars through the skylights until sleep wins. By day the house fills with sun, pouring through floor-to-ceiling windows onto wide-plank floors under cathedral ceilings.

Downstairs, a country kitchen with a breakfast bar holds every pot and pan you need for long, lingering meals, and two bedrooms share a bath with a jetted tub. Upstairs, the loft suite adds a reading nook and its own claw-foot tub. Three bedrooms and two baths sleep six, and on cold evenings the pellet stove warms the great room while you work through shelves of books and board games.

Summer moves outside. The saltwater pool lies on a stone patio ringed by trees and boulders, with no neighbors in sight, and the fully fenced yard runs back into the woods so dogs and children can roam. After dark, the fire pit is for s'mores.

Minnewaska is an easy drive for lake hikes and fall foliage, and Kelder Farm offers apple picking and a petting zoo. Woodstock, Kingston and Mohonk are close as well, and Rough Cut pours seasonal beers. Then it's back to the quiet, where deer sometimes wander across the yard.
