Minnewaska House

About this property

On a winter night in Kerhonkson, snow drifts past the gazebo while you sink into the hot tub, its little waterfall splashing and its LED lights glowing, as a long day of trails drains out of your legs. Nobody wants to get out.

Inside, five bedrooms and two and a half baths sleep 16, and the primary suite upstairs has its own soaking tub. A wood-burning fireplace warms the living room, while the kitchen, with its gas stove and long dining table, can feed the whole crew at once. Downstairs, the speakeasy-style game room hums with billiards, ping pong, Pac-Man and a record player spinning old vinyl.

Out back, the lawn opens wide under willows and fruit trees, with a vegetable garden to pick from and mini golf, cornhole and spikeball spread across the grass. After dark, the fire pit throws sparks toward a sky crowded with stars. In summer, a saltwater pool waits for the hottest afternoons.

The Rail Trail runs right past the house along the Rondout Creek, and Minnewaska State Park is minutes away for a waterfall hike or a loop around Lake Minnewaska. New Paltz is 15 to 20 minutes off, and Mill & Main serves farm-to-table dinners close by. In fall, Kelder Farm, about five minutes by car, fills its fields with apple picking and a winding corn maze.
