About this property

Under a curved, domed ceiling, with the hillside wrapped around the walls and the woods going quiet outside, the house holds you like a burrow with very good lighting. Set into the earth, it stays warm through a snowstorm and cool when summer settles over the Catskills.

Inside, three bedrooms and two baths sleep six, and each room has its own corner to disappear into. The upstairs bath has a large soaking tub, the downstairs one a generous walk-in shower, and the kitchen is stocked down to the spices and oils for long dinners cooked at home. On a cold night, put on a movie by the electric fireplace.

Outside, a grassy yard runs to the edge of the forest, where deer wander through and fireflies rise on summer evenings. Grill under the pavilion, eat at the picnic table, then toast s'mores at the fire pit as the stars come out over the trees.

The main street in Saugerties is about ten minutes away, with coffee shops, brunch spots and boutiques, and Woodstock is close behind. Hunter Mountain is roughly 25 minutes for a ski day. In warmer months, North Lake waits for a hike and a swim, and Kaaterskill Falls for a morning on the trail.
