Inside, the mid-century modern house spreads across a single level, with Indonesian rosewood floors and large windows on every side. The living room, dining area, and kitchen open around a big hearth fireplace stocked with seasoned wood, and the kitchen is outfitted for real cooking, from quality pots to a shelf of spices. Three bedrooms and two and a half baths sleep six.

Out back, a wide deck with a grill looks into a pine forest, and an open lawn leads to a fire pit for marshmallows after dark. A creek runs along the quiet dead-end road, rushing after a rain, and a trail heads into the woods where the road ends.

Woodstock and Saugerties are each ten to fifteen minutes away, with shops, farmers' markets, and a good bookstore in town. Dinner at the Black Barn puts you on a patio above a waterfall, and the Saugerties Lighthouse makes for an easy afternoon a short drive from the house.
