40-Foot Container Cabin

About this property

You wake to the sound of the waterfall, and the seven-foot picture window at the foot of the bed fills with old-growth forest, slate ledges and, some mornings, a family of deer drifting past the glass. Nobody needs to get up yet.

The renovated high-cube container holds one bedroom and a tiled bath for two, with tall ceilings and wide sliding glass doors that bring the woods right inside. The wood stove keeps a snowy night warm while you read on the couch, and coffee from the grinder tastes better at the window.

Out back, the deck looks over the stream, the grill handles dinner and a fire ring crackles as the light fades. Cross the little bridge to more seating on the far promontory, or stretch out in the hammock. After dark, feed the wood-fired hot tub on its rock ledge and soak under the stars, then book a private session in the Finnish sauna just down the hill.

Saugerties is close for dinner at Miss Lucy's or a walk out to the lighthouse, and Woodstock and Kingston are about fifteen minutes away. Kaaterskill Falls and Huckleberry Point fill a whole day of hiking, and when you pull back in, the creek is still running loud in the dark.
