Evening settles over the screened porch, the grill still warm just past the netting, plates on the table and nothing but the quiet of the yard around you. The house feels private and calm. Hours stretch easily here.

Inside, two bedrooms and one bath sleep four, and the bunk beds are a hit with kids. Two separate living rooms let everyone find a corner, one with a giant TV, the other cozy with board games on hand. Air conditioning keeps summer cool, the kitchen has a gas stove, a Keurig and a drip coffee maker, and the washer and dryer make a longer stay simple.

Out back, a large yard opens around a fire pit and charcoal grill, where dinner drifts slowly into firelight. Bring the dog along, since pets are welcome.

Saugerties and its Main Street are about ten minutes by car, with Woodstock and Kingston not far beyond and hiking trails close by. Come in October for the Sheep and Wool Festival or in summer for the HITS horse show grounds, then drive back through hills turning gold and red with fall foliage.
