The cabin has one bedroom and one bath for two, with a soft sectional, jigsaw puzzles and board games, and a guitar and accordion hung on the walls. The kitchen keeps a retro gas stove, spices, tea and a french press. Big windows pour in morning light, and the deep tub in the tiled bathroom runs very hot.

Outside, Adirondack chairs face a garden where hummingbirds work the blooms, and a picnic table stands under its umbrella near the fire pit. Nights belong to crickets, frogs and a sky crowded with stars. Deer wander through the wooded yard.

The Ashokan Reservoir is about five minutes away, with the rail trail along the water and the short Quarry Trail up to a view. Woodstock, Kingston and Phoenicia are easy drives, and Stone Ridge has dinner about fifteen minutes off. Pack a picnic for Vernooy Kill Falls, where mushrooms line the short walk in.
