House near the Pond

In Willow, you start the morning with coffee on the wraparound deck, birds calling, tall trees on every side, and now and then a deer stepping through the yard. The road ends just past the house, so the quiet lasts all day.

Inside, the tri-level house feels open and bright, with art on the walls and tall windows full of forest. On the middle floor you'll find a well-stocked kitchen with a gas stove and a living room warmed by a red enamel wood stove, with firewood provided. Upstairs are two bedrooms, each with its own full bath, and the house sleeps four.

Downstairs there's a game table, a stack of board games, and a shelf of books for long evenings. A short walk down the road brings you to a pond with a little waterfall. In summer it's good for a swim, and in autumn you can watch the leaves drift onto the water.

Woodstock and Phoenicia are each about fifteen minutes away, so you can have breakfast at the Phoenicia Diner, take the Tanbark Trail right from town, or ride the Ashokan Rail Trail from Boiceville. Back at the house, the moon rises over the treetops and the ridges of Mt Tremper fade into the dark.
