Inside, warm wood, colorful decor and a bright sunroom make the house feel personal and lived-in. The open kitchen and living room flow together, with board games and a shelf of DVDs ready for a rainy night. Two bedrooms and one and a half baths sleep four, and the lofted upstairs room, a hidden space reached through the kitchen pantry, opens onto a private balcony where fresh breezes drift down from the hills.

Out back, a private lawn has a badminton net already strung, and rabbits graze at its edges toward evening. Grill dinner on the back deck, then gather around the fire pit as the stars thicken overhead and the night goes quiet.

Trails begin minutes from the door, and Kaaterskill Falls is about a fifteen-minute drive. Woodstock, Saugerties and Catskill all lie within twenty minutes, Hunter Mountain is close for a ski day, and the center of Palenville is an easy walk, where a sandwich from Circle W makes the simplest lunch of the trip.
