River House

About this property

Night falls over the trees in Accord, the water in the hot tub is warm, and somewhere below the deck the Stony Kill spills over its waterfalls in the dark. For acres around, it is the only sound.

Inside, a double-height great room opens to the woods through tall windows, and the open kitchen is stocked well enough to cook every meal. A wood-burning fireplace warms the room while you pull albums from a deep vinyl collection, browse shelves of books, or spread out a jigsaw puzzle. Two bedrooms and two baths sleep four, and with the windows open, the falls carry you off to sleep.

Mornings start with coffee outside, birds at the feeder and tall trees in every direction. Later there is the hammock, a short walk down to the creek, the grill on the patio, and an evening around the fire pit as the woods go quiet.

Minnewaska State Park is about fifteen minutes away for hikes to Awosting Falls, and Mohonk is close too. Back in town, dinner at Mill & Main or a meal at Rough Cut is only minutes from the door, and Westwind Orchard makes an easy afternoon on the way back.
