Outside, the grounds open into lawn, tall trees, and plenty of places to sit, with deer and other animals wandering through. Evenings belong to the fire pit, the gas grill, and the outdoor dining table, and a hammock waits for the lazy hours in between. Autumn may be the loveliest season of all.

Town feels close without crowding in. The heart of Woodstock is minutes away by car, or a mostly flat walk of about thirty minutes through a peaceful neighborhood that invites leisurely strolls. Afterward the house is quiet, the big window glows, and the garden settles into the dark.
