Steam lifts off the hot tub on a cold night while Overlook Mountain goes dark against a sky crowded with stars, and deer drift through the meadow below the deck. You are two miles from the center of Woodstock. It feels much farther.

Inside, two bedrooms and one bath sleep four among stained glass, vintage finds, and an orange retro kitchen ready for a real dinner. The billiards room holds a piano, shelves of vinyl beside the record player, and a wood stove that throws heat across the whole space. Mornings start with coffee on the screened porch, birdsong in the trees.

Out front, a cedar sauna fired by wood takes about an hour to heat, then holds its warmth well into the evening. Between rounds, the loungers on the deck face the mountain, and the grill is close at hand for supper outside.

A flat creekside walk from the door leads to a waterfall, and the hike up Overlook to its fire tower starts a short drive away. Back in town, Red Onion, Oriole 9, and Silvia are waiting for dinner, with Opus 40 and Saugerties within easy reach for an afternoon out.
