About this property

Steam lifts off the hot tub at the edge of the Wallkill River as the last light turns the water copper and the stars come out overhead. Across the river there is nothing but trees.

Inside, a huge picture window fills the living room with the river, and a deep blue loveseat faces it. Colorful paintings brighten yellow walls, the bathroom is lined with an alcove of signs, and the kitchen cooks on a five-burner Viking range. Two bedrooms with king beds and one bath sleep four.

Mornings start with coffee on the lower deck while mist drifts over the water and a heron stalks the bank. Take a kayak, the canoe, or the rowboat out for a gentle paddle, cast a line for catfish, then come back at dusk to the fire pit on the upper deck. Woodpeckers and hummingbirds keep you company in between.

Downtown New Paltz is about ten minutes away, with dinner at Main Street Bistro or Huckleberry. Minnewaska State Park is roughly twenty minutes off, and the Mohonk Preserve is close too. The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail starts near enough to reach on foot or by bike, and it carries you to a glass of wine at Well Nice in Rosendale.
