Private Modern Home

About this property

Night settles over twenty wooded acres, frogs start up from the pond, and you lower yourself into the hot tub with the stars sharp overhead. The road feels very far away.

Inside, the house is modern and full of light, hung with one-of-a-kind art and goods from local makers. The renovated kitchen opens onto the dining and living rooms, so whoever is cooking stays in the conversation. Four bedrooms and two baths sleep up to fourteen, with a spiral staircase climbing to an upstairs bedroom of twin beds.

Mornings begin on the deck, coffee in hand, looking into the trees. Downstairs, a ping pong table and a stack of board games fill rainy afternoons, and a desk behind a closed door handles any work you brought along. Evenings drift from the grill to the fire pit on the lawn.

Bikes wait at the house, and the rail trail is a short walk away, an easy ride into downtown New Paltz without hunting for parking. The River-to-Ridge Trail is five minutes by car, Minnewaska State Park and the Gunks are close for hiking and climbing, and on the way back a nearby farm stand or cidery sends you home with dinner.
