The sun drops behind the Catskills in a slow wash of color, and from the deck you watch the whole ridge go gold, then blue. By morning the light returns from the other side of the house, pouring through windows that frame the hills like paintings.

Inside, the tiny house is all warm woodwork and clever design, with one bedroom and one bath for two. A reading loft waits upstairs, the shower is far roomier than the footprint suggests, and the little kitchen has an induction stove and a French press for unhurried coffee.

Outside, groomed paths loop across the hilltop land, and a few steps along them shift the view entirely. Carry your cup to the pergola in the morning, then come back after dark to the fire pit, where the stars and moon hang over the countryside. A hammock fills the hours in between.

Germantown's cafes and restaurants are close, and Rhinebeck, Hudson and Bard are each an easy drive, with the surrounding towns roughly 10 to 20 minutes away. Spend the afternoon at a farmers market, a lake or a waterfall, then head back up the hill in time for the light to turn.
