Out back, a fenced organic garden lets you pick herbs, berries and flowers for the table. The wide lawn holds cornhole, croquet and badminton, and a screened gazebo keeps summer suppers comfortable long after dark. Later, the fire pit glows under fireflies and, on clear nights, the Milky Way.

Woodstock's Tinker Street shops and Bread Alone are about 13 minutes away, and the village shops in Saugerties about 11. Opus 40 is eight minutes from the door, the Overlook Mountain trailhead twelve, and Falling Waters Preserve offers easy trails beside the Hudson. When winter comes, the slope out back is ready for a sled.
