Steam lifts off the hot tub into cold mountain air as the last light slides across the ridges, and from the deck the view runs open toward Hunter Mountain. Below, deer move quietly through the woods at the edge of five private acres.

Inside, the log-sided house opens into a great room with tall windows, leather sofas and a wood-burning fireplace, beside a cook's kitchen and a reclaimed lumber table that seats fourteen. Five bedrooms and four baths spread across three floors and sleep ten. Downstairs, the game room fills the evenings with a pool table, air hockey and a ski-themed pinball machine.

After dark, Adirondack chairs circle the fire pit, with wood stacked and roasting sticks ready for s'mores. On a clear night shooting stars streak over the trees. By day the lawn has room for cornhole while dinner sizzles on the grill.

The slopes and zip lines at Hunter Mountain are about ten minutes away, with Windham close behind. Kaaterskill Falls and the walk around North-South Lake make a fine day on foot. Afterward, a pint at West Kill Brewery, poured right in the mountains, and a pizza from Sal's carry you home.
