Steam lifts off the hot tub into cold mountain air, stars crowd the sky above three wooded acres, and the only sound is the trees. Ski legs forget themselves fast out here.

Inside, a great room with soaring ceilings gathers everyone around a wood-burning fireplace and a deep L-shaped sectional, with a turntable and a shelf of vinyl close at hand. The house has four bedrooms and three baths and sleeps 8, and the primary suite keeps to itself with a balcony and a vintage heart-shaped soaking tub. Above the garage, the bunkhouse loft is a world of its own, with bunk beds, puzzles, board games, and an electric drum kit.

Mornings start in the breakfast nook. Dinners come out of a kitchen stocked for a crowd and land on a long table or out on the deck beside the grill. After dark, chairs circle the hand-built fire pit, and at dusk deer drift quietly through the trees.

Hunter and Windham are each about 15 minutes away for a ski day. In warmer months, Kaaterskill Falls and North-South Lake are within easy reach, the Oak Glen trailhead is under ten minutes off, and a four-minute drive brings you to CD Lane Park, where the afternoon ends with a swim and a free kayak on calm water.
