Parker House Historic Home 14 Mins to Rhinebeck

About this property

Light spills through the french doors of the den as you carry in your morning coffee, and beyond the glass, old trees throw long shade across the yard. The house is a renovated Victorian in Hyde Park, and its rooms open into one another like a friendly maze.

Six bedrooms and four and a half baths sleep up to 16, and many of the bedrooms are roomy suites with sitting areas and crisp cotton sheets. Everyone ends up in the open kitchen and dining area, which has everything a big shared dinner needs. The parlor and family room are the cozy places to talk late, and the decor pairs the Victorian bones with playful modern touches.

Out back, porches and a big lawn give you plenty of places to settle in. Afternoons go to cocktails in the chairs under the trees while the gas grill heats. On a crisp October night, the group drifts out to the fire pit.

Rhinebeck is about fourteen minutes away, and FDR's home and the Vanderbilt Mansion are close by. Further afield you can reach the Rhinebeck Aerodrome, the Gunks, West Point, or the shops of Poughkeepsie. Closer in, there's a walking trail, breakfast at the Eveready Diner, and pizza or gyros from town to carry home for supper on the porch.
