Sunset House

About this property

The sun drops behind the mountains and the whole valley turns gold in the huge living room window, while a record spins and the gas fireplace warms the room. It is a 1910 farmhouse on an acre of park-like grounds. Hand-carved moldings and hardwood floors run throughout.

The house sleeps six across three bedrooms and two baths, with a king room and a large tub on the first floor and two queen rooms upstairs. The new kitchen has a gas stove, a KitchenAid mixer, and enough cookware for a full Thanksgiving dinner. Off the living room, a cozy TV room holds a workstation and a 55-inch screen.

Outside, the big lawn is fully fenced, so a dog can run free while you light the grill. After dark, chairs circle the fire pit under a sky full of stars. Deer, wild turkeys, and the odd fox wander across the yard.

Storm King Art Center is about ten minutes away, and Jones Farm makes an easy lunch stop a couple of minutes down the road. Downtown Cornwall, West Point, and the Hudson views at Plum Point are all close by. Bear Mountain State Park is near enough for a whole day on the trails.
