Inside, mid-century pieces fill a bright living room, and the kitchen is stocked well enough to send you out for groceries and a long dinner in. The cottage has one bedroom and one bath and sleeps two, with a king bed in the upstairs loft under room-darkening shades and a beautifully tiled walk-in shower below. A washer and dryer make a longer stay simple.

Out back, a wide grassy yard opens around the patio. There is a hammock for an afternoon with a book under the trees, a fire pit for evenings when the stars come out, and room for a dog to chase a ball while birds and chipmunks work the garden.

Main Street in Red Hook is about five minutes on foot, so breakfast can be blueberry muffins and scones at Taste Budd's Cafe. Rhinebeck is roughly ten minutes by car, and an afternoon at the RoseHill Farm orchard ends with an easy evening stroll through the neighborhood.
