Rustic Modern Farmhouse with Spectacular Views

About this property

Morning light spills over the rolling, tree-lined hills below, and from the back patio the Catskill Mountains stretch across the horizon with not another house in sight. The farmhouse is perched at the top of a hill on more than thirty acres. The quiet is complete.

Inside, a fifteen-foot wood-topped island runs through the kitchen, with room for several cooks at once and everyone else gathered close. Six bedrooms and six baths sleep up to 16, a bunk room delights the kids, and the basement holds a playroom and a gym. On cool evenings, settle in by the indoor fireplace with a book.

Outside, the heated pool spreads across a wide stone deck, with a shallow end where toddlers can splash. Ceiling heaters keep the patio warm for long dinners outdoors, the barbecue handles the grilling, and the fire pit glows after dark while children chase each other across the lawn.

Charming Rhinebeck and Red Hook are close by for an afternoon of wandering, and Big Rock Community Farms Market, about fifteen to twenty minutes away, fills the table with farm-fresh food. In fall, the winding country roads make every drive a pleasure, and Manhattan feels much farther than two hours away.
