Modern House in the Woods

About this property

Snow drifts past the tall windows while logs snap in the stone hearth, and the down-filled couches pull you deeper with every page. Outside there is nothing but trees and sky.

Wood beams and stone walls frame a kitchen made for long meals, with a six-burner Viking range, two Sub-Zero refrigerators, and radiant heat warming the floor under bare feet. The house sleeps eight in four bedrooms and three and a half baths, spread across separate wings, and a playroom with a ping pong table keeps the kids happily busy. In the primary suite, a sauna and steam shower wait beside a deep tub that looks straight out into the woods.

In summer the heated saltwater pool shimmers among lush gardens, and the lawn rolls out toward the forest. After dark a little stone path leads to the fire pit for s'mores, and with the windows cracked you drift off to crickets.

Downtown Cold Spring is about seven minutes away, with antique shops, pastries at the coffee shop, and trailheads close by. West Point lies just across the river, and Beacon and Dia Beacon are an easy drive. In fall, Fishkill Farms is about twenty minutes off, with apples and pumpkins ready for picking.
