Riverside Home with Four Bedrooms

About this property

Morning coffee tastes better in the warm glass solarium, birdsong outside and early light slanting through the tall trees in the hills above Ossining. The house is built into a granite boulder, and the rock rises right through the entryway, where stone stairs lead you up to the living spaces.

Up there, a vaulted great room opens through floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights, with a deep couch and a wood-burning fireplace for movie nights on cold evenings. The kitchen is enormous, with double ovens and two sinks, so several cooks can work at once. Four bedrooms and two and a half baths sleep 10, and the primary bath has a whirlpool tub.

Outside, a wraparound deck with plenty of seating looks over the grounds, and dinner out there at sundown is pure green light and quiet. Below it, a fully fenced yard gives dogs room to run. Kids get a swing set, with a crib, high chair and toys waiting inside.

Teatown Nature Reserve and its trails are close by, and so is Croton Dam. Croton Harmon train station is about ten minutes away, with Grand Central less than an hour beyond. After dark, take cocoa outside under the stars and listen for an owl.
