Coffee in hand and a blanket around your shoulders, you watch first light spread across Greenwood Lake from a deck set high on the hill. The water fills the view from window after window. In October the slopes around it turn orange and gold.

Inside, an open main floor runs from a gourmet kitchen stocked for a big shared dinner to a living room where a fire crackles in the fireplace. Upstairs, four bedrooms and 4.5 baths sleep 10, with plenty of room to spread out. Downstairs, a pool table, a Ms. Pac-Man machine and a full bar open through sliding glass doors to a lower terrace.

Out there, steam drifts off the hot tub under the night sky while the lake goes dark below. Summer brings a heated private pool with a slide, and a trampoline and play set wait on the lawn. A gas grill handles dinner outdoors.

In winter, the ski slopes of Mount Peter are ten minutes away, and the Appalachian Trail is close by for a hike. Spend an afternoon browsing the shops and breweries of Warwick, then head down the hill to The Helm for a farm-to-table supper as the last light leaves the water.
