The sun drops behind the ridge and Greenwood Lake turns gold while you sink into the hot tub, raised on its own deck against the mountain's natural rock like a treehouse. After dark, string lights glow overhead. Then the stars come out.

Inside, the house is bright and airy, with natural wood throughout and four spacious bedrooms and two baths for up to eight. Each room has its own heating and cooling, and the stocked kitchen opens onto a dining table with room for everyone. Downstairs, the game room holds foosball, shuffleboard, darts and a Super Nintendo, with stacks of board games waiting upstairs.

Out back, a fenced yard with a fire pit sets the scene for s'mores under open sky, and the lake lies just across the road. Beach passes come with the stay. Coffee shops, restaurants and small shops in town are an easy walk away.

In winter, Mount Peter is close by for skiing and snow tubing, and Warwick is about fifteen minutes off, with its orchards, farms and wineries. Harriman State Park and the Appalachian Trail are within reach for a long day on foot, and a cold pint at a local brewery is waiting on the drive home.
