Vintage Farmhouse

About this property

At dusk the back deck of this Highland farmhouse turns soft and green, with birds and frogs calling from the woods and a stream running somewhere past the trees. Out front, a porch swing waits for your morning coffee.

Inside, the 1901 house keeps its barn doors, Dutch door and antique furniture, set beside a renovated kitchen stocked with spices, pots and baking sheets. Two queen bedrooms and one and a half baths sleep six, and the full bath has a large shower and tub with plenty of hot water. Shelves of books, board games, a record player and a hidden Nintendo fill any rainy afternoon.

Grill dinner and eat outside as the light fades, then pull chairs around the fire pit. Deer and wild turkey graze the wide lawn, and after dark an owl may call from across the way. In autumn the trees around the yard blaze with color.

The Walkway Over the Hudson and the Rail Trail are ten minutes off, New Paltz is fifteen, and Minnewaska State Park is twenty, with Mohonk Mountain just beyond. Hyde Park is twenty minutes away and the Culinary Institute of America fifteen, and on the way home a cold glass waits at Bad Seed Cider Co., a few minutes from the door.
