Paradise

About this property

Morning light in Salt Point comes off the creek and across the great lawn, and from the primary bedroom you can watch it from the soaking tub while the woods on the far bank stay quiet. Herons and egrets work the shallows. Deer wander up toward the house.

Inside, the rooms feel modern and warm at once, with art and cultural pieces softening the clean lines. All four bedrooms have their own bath (four and a half in all), and the house sleeps eight. The kitchen, with its BlueStar oven and Thermador fridge, handles a holiday dinner with ease, and the dining room seats everyone together.

Seven acres give you space to roam. Summer brings the pool, stones skipped across the creek and dinner from the grill on the deck above the water, then s'mores at the fire pit as fireflies rise. In winter, a fire in the fireplace and a film in the media room, with a ping pong table close by, turn a snowed-in weekend into a gift.

Farms, breweries and groceries are a short drive away. The Omega Institute is about 17 minutes off, Rhinebeck and Millbrook make easy outings, and the botanical garden at Innisfree offers a gentle afternoon walk.
